Ashen Empires uses common aspects of most CRPGs (Computer Role-Playing Games) such as leveling and Statistics or Attributes, which are known as Orbs in AE. Skills for various functions within the game such as combat and crafting are also present. AE uses an open world model where it is typically possible for a character to go anywhere. Monsters which are killed drop certain items, particularly in the case of items used in crafting, and some of these items include equipment.
